The new Humber Cultural Hub will officially be a Net Zero Carbon, LEED Platinum, mass timber building on Humber College’s Lakeshore Campus.EllisDon has been heavily involved in the process from early concept design under an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model, a collaborative approach to designing complex projects. Embodied carbon became a central value to the project early on, leading to the 300-bed student residence to be developed with a mass timber structural system.

The Humber Cultural Hub itself will serve as a built example of the potential of timber construction and demonstrate the value in factoring embodied carbon into early decision making processes.
