Ontario Premier Doug Ford thanks EllisDon during news conference, May 22, 2020
We are honoured to receive recognition from Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Monte McNaughton, Ontario Minister of Labour this afternoon.In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Premier Doug Ford and provincial cabinet ministers’ Christine Elliott (health) and Monte McNaughton (labour, training and skills development) provided an update on their government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.Premier Doug Ford mentioned EllisDon in his opening remarks, sending out a ‘big thank you’ to our construction sector. “I just want to send out a big thank you to our construction sector. Monte showed me a letter from the folks at the Building Trades Council and EllisDon. All of us, government labour and industry, are working together to put the health and safety of every Ontario worker first. Together we will ensure that every sector in this province can thrive and come back stronger than ever before.”Our President and CEO, Geoff Smith along with Patrick J. Dillion, Business Manager, Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario, and wrote an open letter to Minister McNaughton. The letter discussed the paramount importance of the safety of every single tradesperson in Ontario construction job sites while thanking the government of Ontario and the Ministry of Labour Training and Skills Development.
