Steve Chaplin Discusses Naloxone Kits with The Globe and Mail

The Ontario government has taken a pioneering step in the realm of workplace safety by mandating that employers in certain industries must carry naloxone kits and train their staff on their usage. With safety as our top priority, EllisDon quickly adopted this initiative and currently offers naloxone kits for use on our sites.

Naloxone, a life-saving medication known as Narcan, is designed to counter the effects of opioid overdoses. It comes in the form of an easy-to-administer nasal spray or a needle and can temporarily reverse an overdose, buying precious time before paramedics arrive.

In the Globe and Mail’s recent article, “Ontario first jurisdiction in North America to require naloxone kits in thousands of workplaces”, Steve Chaplin, Senior Vice-President, Health, Safety & Environment, EllisDon, emphasizes the significance of this initiative. He highlights that naloxone kits are not just for heavy drug users, but can also be valuable in treating adverse reactions to prescription drugs or accidental ingestions. This preventive measure can make a critical difference in emergency situations, offering vital moments until professional help arrives.
