Steve Chaplin Named Chair of the Prevention Council of Ontario

Mississauga, ON, April 24, 2023 — Steve Chaplin, EllisDon’s Vice President of Health, Safety and Environment, has been named Chair of the Prevention Council of Ontario.

With over 30 years of related industry experience, Steve has played a vital role in EllisDon’s commitment to health and safety. He has been instrumental in developing and implementing innovative safety programs and initiatives that have set EllisDon apart as an industry leader in this area. In his new role of Chair, Steve will use this experience to lead the Council and work with its members to bring forward practical and meaningful standards and practices that protect worker health and safety.

Together with the Prevention Council, Ontario has proudly maintained one of the best safety records in Canada,” said Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. “I congratulate Steve Chaplin on being elected Council Chair and look forward to working with him to keep workers safe on the job.”

The Prevention Council advises and makes recommendations to the Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and the Chief Prevention Officer on a wide range of occupation health and safety issues, including the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses, the development of the provincial occupational health and safety strategy and on any significant proposed changes to funding and delivery of services under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
