Here, Kieran accepted an award recognizing EllisDon as one of this year's winners. On Tuesday, Mediacorp Inc. released its 10th annual list of Greater Toronto's Top Employers, as chosen by editors of the Canada's Top 100 Employers project. This annual competition is open to employers of any size and sector with a head office in the GTA.This year's list highlights increased rivalry among employers to attract the best and brightest in the nation's most competitive labour market. EllisDon is one of ten dynamic companies that stand out for stepping up their workplace and human resources initiatives to attract top talent. "The strength of the employers selected for this year's list reflects the strength of the region itself," says Tony Meehan, Publisher at Mediacorp. "Each year, it gets more difficult to choose the winners and, after ten years, the level of competition among winners is now exceptional. These employers are raising the bar for all organizations across the GTA."This year's competition saw a record number of employer applicants. First, Mediacorp editors examined the recruitment histories of over 85,000 employers from Eluta.ca and, from this pool of growing organizations, invited 8,000 employers to submit detailed applications. Top employers were then compared to determine the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.Employers were evaluated on physical workplace; work and social atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time-off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement. "EllisDon is an employee-focused company with an emphasis on employee careers," says Kieran Hawe, EllisDon Senior Vice President and Toronto Area Manager.
