EllisDon Secures Two Spots on On-Site Magazines Top 40 Under 40 List

Mississauga, ON, December 10, 2021 — EllisDon’s Craig Enns, Vice President and Area Manager, British Columbia and Derek Love, Vice President and Area Manager, Looby Construction, were named in Onsite + Site Partners 40 Under 40 in Canadian Construction list.

On-Site Magazine and Site Partner’s annual 40 Under 40 awards recognize the most exceptional, progressive, and innovative young leaders who are advancing the movement of construction in Canada.

Craig Enns has over 15 years in the construction industry and is currently responsible for the direction of all professional staff, operation, and client relations for EllisDon’s operations in British Columbia. He oversees the implementation of effective project controls, estimating, and scheduling of multiple, large-scale projects and the leadership of field project management personnel. Under his leadership, the Vancouver Area has seen tremendous growth as they have taken on major projects such as the Oakridge Redevelopment, Burnaby Hospital Redevelopment, and the Royal Inland Hospital.

“Craig’s strong work ethic and integrity are key factors of his success along with subscribing to the balance of the EllisDon Core Values. He supports his team and isn’t afraid to ‘drop-down’ and get his hands dirty — a great example of how he leads by example,” says David McFarlane, Senior Vice President, Western Canada, EllisDon. “Craig is also never satisfied with the norm. He always pushes himself and his team to be innovative when faced with a challenge and has a desire to see those around him succeed. Despite his young age, Craig has had no problem quickly excelling and gaining the respect of his peers which is why he is a perfect addition to the Top 40 Under 40 list.”

The top 40 list showcases a cross-section of top-performing individuals who have achieved professional success while displaying innovation and leadership abilities in the Canadian construction sector.

Derek Love leads Looby Construction Ltd, a subsidiary of EllisDon, which has been in the roadbuilding business since 1904. Derek has worked in the construction industry for over 11 years, working in a variety of roles before joining EllisDon in 2016 as a Design-Build Manager in EllisDon’s Civil department. In a short time, Derek worked his way to Director of EllisDon PPPs and Major Projects and now is responsible for managing the full operations and employees of Looby Construction.

With his entrepreneurial mindset, Derek has created programs to aid employees to adapt to new technologies, increasing shared knowledge and expertise company-wide. As a benefit of these programs, Derek was also able to identify and promote a range of young talent in the company, raising with him a new generation of leaders.

“Derek has shown time after time that he is a true team leader, from taking the reins on large-scale bids for our Civil work to situating Looby Construction as a well-positioned legacy builder that is ready for the future,” says Max Mantha, Senior Vice President, Eastern Canada at EllisDon. “By developing young talent and bettering those around him, Derek is well-deserving of this great industry recognition.”

This is the second year EllisDon leaders have been recognized in On-Site + Site Partners 40 Under 40 list. Last year, both Max Mantha, Senior Vice President, Eastern Canada, and Michael Casey, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel were honoured in the inaugural edition of the 40 Under 40 in Canadian Construction.
