EllisDon Teams Up with Giants of Africa and MLSE Foundation to Deliver Historic Basketball Court to Edmonton

At EllisDon, our commitment to giving back to the communities we build in is a top priority.

We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Giants of Africa, the Toronto Raptors, and MLSE Foundation, which has resulted in the construction of the first-ever Giants of Africa basketball court in Canada. EllisDon had the privilege of overseeing the construction of this innovative Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) initiative at the Londonderry School in Edmonton, Alberta.

Giants of Africa, a non-profit organization co-founded by Toronto Raptors vice-chairman and president Masai Ujiri, has a mission to empower African youth and embrace the rich diversity of the African diaspora residing in Canada. This basketball court marks a significant milestone in the 20-year history of Giants of Africa as it stands as the first of its kind outside the African continent. While their commitment to building 100 courts across Africa remains steadfast, this Canadian court serves as a testament to Giants of Africa’s broader mission: empowering African youth on a global scale.

EllisDon’s Edmonton Area team donated $30,000 to Giants of Africa. Basketball courts hold a special place within school communities, and we are excited to witness the positive impact it will bring to the lives of students.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our remarkable design and construction partners who played a pivotal role in making this project a reality:
